Free Font - Ultra

Ultra is a well-drawn, extra-bold 'Egyptian' typeface, with an adequate character set. Would work/contrast quite well with St Marie.

Available for download from Font Squirrel.

Ultra's font license also allows @font-face CSS embedding.

Creative Commons Educational Images

Digmo reports: [edited]

I try and use as many self created images on DigMo! as I possibly can. Recently I took a series of photos of education related keywords with the view of using them as the background watermark for the key post image.

Rather than keep these images to myself I have decided to share them with other teachers to use on their blogs, as Keynote/PowerPoint backgrounds or on classroom handouts.

The jpeg images are 1000 pixels by 667 so can be cropped and resized to suit any website or blog. The images are free for non-commericial usage.

Preview - a surprisingly useful program

Digmo! reports: [edited]

Apple’s Preview is one of those understated OS applications that hosts some particularly powerful and useful image editing tools. I use Preview on a daily basis to resize and crop images or merge PDF documents.

For demonstrations of two basic workflows I regularly use with Preview, click here.

Free Font - Doris Day

PC World reports: [edited]

Doris Day is a stylish little brush script from designer Mario Arturo.

Doris Day's capital letters are based on forms from The ABC of Lettering by artist J.I. Biegeleisen, a volume first published in 1940 and a standard reference work for brush letterers. The font's lowercase characters were inspired by ads of the period and vintage lettering books.

Doris Day comes with a full set of upper- and lowercase characters as well as a limited set of punctuation marks, but there are no numerals.
